Ranbir kapoor follows bad boy ''Salman Khan''

Inspite of all the flak 'Saawariya' has received, Ranbir Kapoor has become a darling with girls. Will this help him find strong footing in Bollywood? When we quizzed Bollywood's leading publicist Dale Bhagwagar about this, he had an interesting take on the situation.

"Ranbir is already on strong footing. Though he has made some mistakes and needs to immediately look into them. He's been grudging the fourth estate for being too critical of him. He should stop doing that," said the PR specialist.

He analyzed, "It is not Ranbir's fault that he was recklessly over-hyped. Expectations had zoomed putting extraordinary pressure on the debutant to deliver brilliantly. Ranbir has done a relatively good job in the film. He has also shown that he has the potential to become a big star."

"Instead of attacking the media (which will not serve any purpose), he should direct his energies towards expressing gratitude for the vast appreciation the masses have showered upon him.

His media strategies need solid revamp. Cause, right now, by messing with the media, he seems to be going the Salman Khan way."

‘Singh is Kinng’ in controversies

The hottest dude of Bollywood Akshay Kumar’s Sikh forthcoming movie ‘Singh is Kinng’ has been in controversies from the time the first promotional still of the film was released.

It is being said that his clean-shaven face with a trendy turban is a mere mockery of the Sikh culture.A photo of Akshay on the net is also greatly objected by Punjabi community in Australia.

However, director Vipul Shah tells the photo does not depict Akki’s real look in the film. It was taken without permission. Vipul Shah defends himself by saying that Akshay is himself a Punjabi and is working in close coordination with stylist Shabina Khan for his look in the film. Apart from this, a local Sikh is always on the sets to guide Akshay about how to wear a turban.

Vipul Shah is shooting almost half of the movie in Australia. And the second half will be shot in Punjab, Mumbai and Egypt.

Bollywood’s the perfectionist and choosy hero Aamir Khan declined the offer from Madam Tussauds, saying “It’s not important to me. I have been approached but I am not interested. People will see my films if they want to. Also, I can’t deal with so many things; I have bandwidth only for that much. So things that don’t interest me, I just let them pass. Each one has their own priorities on what interests them.”

Mr. Khan was approached earlier in the year by Madam Tussauds in London to be the fourth Bollywood figure to be waxed on the famed celebrity museum of London.

Rumours are also on with Salman Khan who unlike Aamir Khan has agreed to comply to be put into the wax museum. Earlier, there was a widespread speculation that Tamil superstar Rajnikanth would be the entry into Tussauds this year however unfortunately that did not became a reality.

Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao together again

Vivah has made a helluva difference to its lead player Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao. If individually they are now in a position to pick and choose, as a team they’re even more in demand.

Not only did they deliver a hit in their first film Ishq Vishq, they also proved themselves an unexpected bonanza in Vivah. And if director Sooraj Barjatya had his way he would probably have them back together in his next film.

In fact Sooraj confesses he never felt the absence of his favourite hero Salman Khan once Shahid faced the camera.

As for Amrita, the minute he saw her in Ishq Vishq, Sooraj decided no other heroine could play his simple yet elegant and utterly Indian small-town heroine in Vivah.

Kareena who had set her heart on being in Bajatyas’ next after Main Prem Ki Diwani Hai specially when she got to know Shahid was in the film had to be gently told she didn’t suit the role.

Naturally post-Vivah a cluster of filmmakers are keen to sign the Shahid-Amrita pair together, one of them being David Dhawan whose new film for UTV is his first non-comic outing since Swarg and Andhiyaan at the beginning of his brimming career.

After initial consultation, however, Shahid and Dhawan stayed away from each other. A probable reason? The couple would like to remain special and exclusive for Sooraj Barjatya who might want to cast them together again.

Shahid is therefore out, Sidharth the choosy Rang De Basanti Telugu actor has taken over the onus of hero-giri in Dhawan’s film.

Confirming her presence in David Dhawan’s film Amrita says, “It’s not a typical David Dhawan film at all. From what I could make out of the script it’s far removed from the image that he has.”

As for Siddharth, Amrita says she hasn’t met him as yet. “But I’m sure we’ll make an interesting and convincing pair.”

Not too many leading men would seem to suit the petite and painfully tender –looking Amrita. In fact in her next release My Name Is Anthony Gonzalves Amrita is teamed with a newcomer Nikhil Diwedi.

Mallika Sherawat love tales with a top Business man

Ever wondered why Bollywood’s hottest belle has seldom been linked with men!

Gossipmongers have been kind to Mallika Sherawat . Except Rahul Bose perhaps, she hasn’t yet been linked with any of her co-stars. It is incredible how the sensuous belle has avoided getting romantically involved with men. But that, it now seems, is not exactly the case.

According to a report in the latest edition of Stardust, there is a mystery man in Mallika’s life.

Without revealing the man’s name, the magazine says he is “an owner of a leading GSM company in India”. Mallika reportedly met him at a party in Delhi and there was an instant chemistry between the two. Their relationship apparently developed over a course of time.

The article also says that Mallika’s secret beau has bought a bungalow for her.

There are other reports that say the couple has also been to a vacation in Europe.

Mallika, who is presently working in Pritish Nandy Communications project Ugly And Pagli , is remaining tightlipped about the rumours. She apparently wants to keep the fling secret because her beau is a married man.

Hello is a tale about the events that happen one night at a call center. Told through the views of the protagonist, Shyam, it is a story of almost lost love, thwarted ambitions, absence of family affection, pressures of a patriarchal set up, and the work environment of a globalized office.
Shyam is losing his girl friend because his career is going nowhere as he trudges his way around in a call center. His girl friend, Priyanka, is also an agent like him at the call canter who is about to be snatched by an NRI techno geek.
There is also the aspiring model, Esha, who is hopping for the break that seems to be always already eluding her and the man about town, Vroom, who is into well, things. The housewife, Radhika, who is constantly at the receiving end of her mother-in-law and a beleaguered grandfather, Military Uncle, who has been barred from interacting with his grandchild make up the rest of the call agents who see their worlds crumbling around them as the decisions of right sizing are conveyed by Bakshi, the boss.
It is a night when dreams will finally crumble. Or will it? For there is that call from God. srk as karna in Mahabaharata

Shahrukh best befits the role of Karna the unsung but the strongest heroic character in Mahabharata! Akshay Kumar best fits as Arjun for his dynamic personality and shrewd masculine looks, a typical Aryan.
Aamir best befits as Krishna for his mischievous smile and charm. Sunny perfect for BHEEMA or else who can shout and kill elephants? Amitabh as the best personality of Mahabharata as Bheesma. The unconquerable and just among all. Sanjay Dutt as the just and noblest, as Yudhistira.
Shahid Kapoor as small well built charming boy of Arjuna as Abhimanyu. I think he will make history for himself. Exchanging or compromising any role is not worth 500crore.
SRK is the best option for an unsung Hero like Karna and only Karna. It will make SRK immortal. As Karna was a personality who was cremated by GOD Krishna himself.
And no other personality had ever the chance of being honored by the Lord Himself.
Arjun befits Akshay Kumar only b’coz there is only one dynamic man like Aryans today in cinema and he is surely our Jat Akki. Krishna again is a name for mischief, charmer and friend whose persona matches exactly like Aamir. Bheesma has no choice but Amitabh.

Vidya Balan loves to be called demure Indian

Vidya Balan, who was recently seen in a glamorous role in “Heyy Babyy”, is happy being called a demure Indian girl.
“That’s my USP and why should I shy away from it? Even if I tried to be a floozy, I’d be a disaster. Even when I played a radio-jockey in Raj Kumar Hirani’s film, I wore kurtas, skirts and other desi accessories. I’m not like a hip radio-jockey from Australia,” Vidya told IANS.
“I’d have been happy to be born 40 years ago and live my life in a sari,” she added.
Amitabh Bachchan once said you can’t take your eyes off Vidya when she is on screen.
“It’s humbling. Even if he had just noticed me I’d have been complimented beyond description. But to have him say such wonderful things about me is unbelievable,” said Vidya, who worked with Amitabh in “Eklavya”.
“Amitji and I didn’t have too many scenes together in ‘Eklavya’. In fact, we had just three scenes. But we watched the edit together. When he came in, he said, ‘Namaste’. Then he held my hand and said I was exceptional. I started giggling. He said, ‘All of us are in love with you.’ I didn’t know what to say,” she said.
The raised expectation doesn’t bother Vidya.
“I feel extremely blessed. Amitji appreciating me is such a compliment. It makes my parents so proud. I’ve learnt how important it is to be generous to the people around you. I saw the same kind of humility and generosity in Sanjay Dutt during ‘Parineeta’, ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ and ‘Eklavya’.”
Vidya is proud of being a Vidhu Vinod Chopra camp actor.
“It’s better to be called a part of a camp than to be associated with bad films. Chopra didn’t completely believe in me before ‘Parineeta’. He signed me for three films after that. I’m proud of that,” she said.
She shot down her reputation of being arrogant.
“I don’t think I’m arrogant. But I do take a long time to open up. Raima Sen and I are close friends. But there are certain things we don’t discuss. I’m cordial with everyone on the sets. But I’m not going to be friendly with someone after a few hours just to keep up a conversation,” Vidya said.
She opened up about her controversial relationship with Pradeep Sarkar who made his second film with Rani Mukerji and Konkona Sen Sharma.
“People have been speculating about the relationship that we share. But we’re teacher and pupil. Earlier, I used to get very agitated when people insinuated things. It doesn’t matter what people think as long as you’re clear in your heart. I know what relationship I share with him. I don’t need to furnish explanations to anyone. But it disappoints me that people can see men and women only in a particular way.
“I don’t have time to listen to people talk rubbish about my life. I’d rather read a book, see a film or be with friends. I have some close friends from school and college. In the film industry I only have Raima as a friend. Neither of us is insecure about the other,” Vidya said.

Ranbir to change cell number

Ranbir Kapoor is flying high with the rave reviews he has got for his debut performance in Saawariya. So inundated has the actor been with calls and messages that he has had to change his phone number.A close family member of Ranbir said, "The volume of calls and messages since the promotional clippings went on TV to the time of the film's release has gone up so much that poor Ranbir had no choice but to change his number.
"I really didn't want to do that," confessed Ranbir, "I love all the attention. I like being complimented for my performance. I feel I'm not getting enough."
And that is not all. Within 12 hours of the premiere of Saawariya, four major filmmakers offered him the lead role in their next film.
He starts shooting for Yashraj Films' next project, to be directed by Siddharth Anand, from Nov 24."But what I am really crossing my fingers for is another film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He just has to say when and I am on. He has taught me everything I know about acting," said the grateful protégé.Apparently Roberto Benigni in Life Is Beautiful inspired Ranbir's character of the street-smart do-gooder who would do anything to win over the sullen, searching girl.
"Sanjay sir saw me like a human version of a poodle, out to please the one I love at any cost. I sing, dance, juggle, jiggle, waltz, tap-dance, jump puddles, climb up pipes...any and everything for Sonam's character, just like Roberto Benigni in Life Is Beautiful.
"She, on the other hand, remains blissfully unimpressed most of the time. And the more withdrawn she becomes, the harder I try to please her," said Ranbir.
His co-star Sonam Kapoor isn't lagging behind either. Her classic looks are being compared with Waheeda Rehman and Rekha.
Said Priyanka Chopra: "I've known Sonam for a long time. She's a friend. And I like her father (Anil Kapoor) from the time we worked in Salaam-e-Ishq. She's such a beautiful girl with a great body.
"As for Ranbir, he's a complete scene-stealer. His performance is so warm and endearing, you just want to hug him. It's hard to believe this is his first film."

Laxmi Mittal to walk for SRK

According to the actor, they are very dear friends of his and he will be extremely glad to get the opportunity to catch up with them as well. The idea to have a premiere in London according to SRK is to attract the global audience and not just the Indian diaspora. The other factor behind the London premiere was that the film’s distributors, Eros International are based out of London as well. SRK has fond memories of Leisceter Square as he had held the premiere of another of his home productions, Asoka also at the same venue in 2002. That too was a little before Diwali. Chak De also premiered in London. So in a way, London is a little special for SRK. Unpreturbed by the fact that Saawariya premiered last night in Mumbai, the Om Shanti Om team is going to go all out and celebrate the event. The red carpet before the screening will also be a great photo opportunity for the entire cast of the film, including Deepika Padukone, her parents Prakash and Ujjwala; Arjun Rampal, and of course, SRK himself walking the carpet with his special guests.

Raveena gears up for a comeback

Mumbai, Raveena Tandon, who took a sabbatical after marriage and motherhood, is planning to face the camera again, tempted by some of the offers coming her way.
"One of them is a movie where I've the central role. So far, post-marriage the offers have been rather okay types. But this one is a woman-oriented film. See, if I do a film now it can't be the usual pony-tailed Jill-in-a-drill kind of thing. I'd be happy to do this one film, as long as they don't clash with my daughter's routine," Raveena told IANS.The other offer, which "Mast" girl Raveena is tight-lipped about, is for a non-fiction programme on a news channel. "Doing TV is even easier for me because I can synchronise my clock according to Rasha's schedules. In any case, she's the least problematic child. Not at all cranky like her mother," said Raveena, who has two kids. The National Award winning actress would be the latest in a long queue of married actresses who have returned after motherhood. The successful ones were Rakhee, who returned with "Kabhi Kabhie" and "Tapasya", Sharmila Tagore, who did her most successful films like "Aradhana", "Amar Prem" and "Mausam" after marriage, Dimple Kapadia had a fabulous innings post marriage and motherhood with "Sagar", "Rudaali" and "Lekin" and Hema Malini, who continues to be a queen way past marriage and grownup daughters.

Priyanka set to start 'Fashion'

Mumbai, Priyanka Chopra can heave a sigh of relief because her marathon movies are about to finish. She has now started preparing for her two films, expected to go on the floors next year.
"First I go into Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Fashion'. Then into Karan Johar's film which Tarun Mansukhani will direct. For 'Fashion' I need to sit down with Madhur and work out a graph for the character and the look," Priyanka told IANS.
Currently, she is shooting for the final lap of Rumi Jaffrey's long-delayed comedy "God, Tussi Great Ho".
" 'Drona' and 'Love Story 2050' had huge amounts of action and special effects. So they took much longer than usual. They've turned out fabulously. They'll be over by December. So too 'God, Tussi Great Ho'. There's just one more song with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, and then we're done."
"God, Tussi..." would probably be her last film with Salman Khan considering his comments on Priyanka.
"Yeah, I heard Salman thinks I'm not his friend. That's all right. One can't hold anything against Salman. He's a cool guy. I'm sure he was just kidding around when he said that. Even if he wasn't, I'm fine with him. I've no problems with any of my co-stars."
The year hasn't been an easy one for her personally or professionally - her father's illness, legal trouble with her former secretary Prakash Jaju, delayed projects and injury during the stunt scenes of "Drona". But Priyanka is gung-ho.
"I guess I've the capacity to emerge on top of a situation, thank god for that. God, tussi great ho! "
The actress is delighted that Kangana Ranaut is going to be in "Fashion".
"The role is so suited to Kangana. I'm so glad she's doing it. She's immensely talented."
However, Kangana is slightly tired and disappointed. Tired, because professionally and personally 2007 has been a gruelling year and disappointed because she won't be able to move into her dream house with her parents for Diwali as she had planned.
"It's not ready as yet. It'll now have to be by the end of November. I don't want to rush it after waiting so long," said Kangana.

Lara wins against Gladrags

Lara wins against GladragsLara Dutta has won the case against Gladrags and the fashion magazine has been directed not to use the model’s pictures on their hoardings.Apparently, Gladrags managing Editor, Maureen Wadia had used Lara’s posters on the Gladrags hoardings (along with John Abrahim’s and Dino Moreo’s snapshots) to promote the upcoming Supermodel Contest. Consequently, in the first week of March, Lara Dutta had filed a case in the Bombay High Court for infringement of copyright and for using her pictures without taking permission or informing her. Her case was fought by Advocate Rohini. The photos had been taken during a session in June 2003 and consequently given to a film magazine in January 2004.Janak Dwarkadas, counsel for Gladrags contended that they had purchased Dutta's photograph from a photographer who claimed that he had the license to use her photographs in any manner he wanted to and that there was an agreement between Dutta and the photographer. However, neither the photographer was made a party to the suit nor was the agreement produced before the court. While Gladrags has been retrained to use the photographs, the court is yet to pronounce a judgment on the compensation of 2 lakhs claimed by Lara Dutta. Lara, who technically is the brand ambassador of the company, is rumored to be upset because Gladrags has not promoted her after she won the Miss Universe title in 1995, and were still claiming credit for her success.

Bips looks towards Hollywood goal

Bipasha Basu is looking forward to her Hollywood projects but says she cannot comment on them till they really go on the floors. "I’ve got a couple of lucrative offers but the writers have gone on strike and Hollywood will be shutting down for the next six months. I have appointed Simone Scheffield now and she is in touch. Even the Ben Kingsley project will take a long time as it is in the scripting process now. Right now, I can’t reveal much. So, until I have the narration, I cannot speak about it. Nothing will begin before August next year," says Bipasha.
The actress had also been offered a role in the Lost series. "Yes, I was offered an interesting cameo. The director J.J. Abrams was also planning a new series on medicos and I was offered a role. But I am not taking it up right now since it will take two years of my work and I can’t afford to do that," says the Dhoom actress.
Coming back to her Indian projects, Bipasha is looking forward to Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Ashoka and Siddharth Anand’s next film which she plans to start shooting after Vivek Agnihotri’s Goal releases. "I am excited about Ashoka since it’s my first period film. The role is tremendous and fascinating. It is a role of a lifetime. Earlier I was looking forward to Rituparno Ghosh’s Draupadi, but it has been held up for some time. But unlike Goal, where I was casual about the role, for this role I have to do a lot of preparations which I am planning from January. I am also looking forward to Siddharth’s next which also stars Katrina Kaif, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone.
"Right now, it’s only Goal for me. I specially liked one particular scene which is shot with John and me in the locker room. It was very touching," she says. She adds, "What I realised during the shoot was that racism actually exists. I was standing at Southall with Arshad (Warsi) when two boys passed us in their car. They were hanging out of the car and rapping such filthy things. It was disgusting."
The actress brushes off rumours about Ronaldo coming to Mumbai for the premiere. "I don’t know how it started. We were planning to have tie-ups with Manchester United when I told Vivek I will speak to him. He would shoot a promo which will encourage football in India. But it didn’t happen. There were a lot of regulations so we let go," she says.

Rani Mukerji failed to check documents before buying land

Pune, Bollywood star Rani Mukerji was duped in a land deal worth Rs.3.3 million because she failed to check even the primary documents, Maharashtra officials said Thursday.
According to the sub-divisional office in Ahmed Nagar, Mukerji did not check the document popularly known as 7/12, which bears the name of the owner of the property.
This small mistake is going to cost her Rs.3.3 million and probably a number of trips to Nimba Korchali village near the pilgrimage town of Shirdi in Ahmed Nagar district where she has bought a piece of land.
The actress who has been summoned by officials on Dec 4 has to prove that Sampat More, from whom she bought the property, is indeed its original owner. However, according to the officials at the sub-divisional office, the 7/12 document does not mention More's name.
The property, which comes under the category of a new tenure land, can be bought only with the permission from a competent authority of the district.
The original owner of the land was one Sonuwane, a farmer, who started selling the land in bits and pieces.
More was one of the buyers but he did not have his name registered in the documents and sold the land to the actress who purchased it without verifying the document, the officials said.
Meanwhile, More has sent a request to transfer the property documents in his name but that request is pending

Rajkumar Santoshi shelves Katrina, Shahid starrer

Mumbai, Rajkumar Santoshi has dropped the idea of making an intense love story with Shahid Kapur and Katrina Kaif because he finds too many similarities between his script and the recently released "Jab We Met".
"We were all set to start the film. But then we saw some striking similarities between what we had in mind and 'Jab We Met'. Doing two similar films with the same actor in the lead didn't make any sense," Santoshi told IANS.
"Now we are reworking the script and will surely come up with something soon. I really want to work with Shahid and Katrina," he added.
Santoshi is preparing to start his epic on emperor Ashoka in January 2008 with Ajay Devgan and Bipasha Basu in the lead.
As for his other film, the musical "London Dreams", he said: "Some differences cropped up between me and the producers. Also, there was a lot of confusion over Salman Khan's dates. So I really don't know where the project stands."
The director is currently giving finishing touches to his film about the individual and his conscience "Halla Bol", which opens Dec 21.
Tell him that he is working on too many projects, and he explains: "Yes, I do have a reputation for initiating several projects out of which some don't work out. But during the last one and a half years you must've noticed I've been focusing only on 'Halla Bol'. I never go on the floor until I'm absolutely sure."
His last two films "Family: Ties of Blood" and "Khakee" bombed at the box office.
