Malaika Arora Khan In her first full length role

Malaika Arora Khan is set to sizzle on-screen again, but this time not in an item number but a full-fledged role and that too with her husband Arbaaz Khan. Produced by Ashok Kheny and directed by famous south director Indrajith, the film is tentatively tilted ‘Shaadi Ke After Effects’ and will also star Johnny Lever, Tara Sharma and Madhuri Bhattacharya.

Ashok Kheny claims that the basic theme of the film is marriage and infidelity.

“It’s a common occurrence that many married couples are attracted to their neighbour’s spouse after a period of time. After some years of marriage, they start thinking that the neighbour’s wife is more beautiful than their own and start neglecting their own. But here, the woman decides to teach her erring husband a lesson,” the newly turned producer adds.

Indrajith, meanwhile, is confident that the film will do well on the basis of the script and style. “It is a full length comedy film high on entertainment,” he says. “This film exploits Arbaaz Khan’s potential and after seeing him in this film, I’m confident that he will be in demand.

Sizzling Gauri Khan is Vogue’s cover girl

While hubby superstar Shah Rukh Khan is breaking box office records, wife Gauri Khan is too breaking new ground.

Stepping into the domain of the super models, Gauri features as the cover girl of Vogue’s next Indian edition.

According to a report the pictures were shot against the background of Mannat, the Khan family mansion.

Priya Tanna, editor Vogue India, describes Gauri as “as a ‘true Voguette’, who offers delightful peeks into her life, her wardrobe and her man,” said the report.

“It is her first solo cover and a coup of sorts for Vogue. That she is stylish, enigmatic and poised is known, but at the shoot we saw another side of her, that of a cover girl. Even in the frames she shares with Shah Rukh, she holds her own impressively,” Tanna said.

Gauri is quoted as saying she “hates tight and revealing clothes”, but that does not stop her from appearing on the cover in a red strapless low-cut dress, which ends about a foot above her knees.

John Abraham opposite Rachel Weisz in Deepa Mehta film

Deepa Mehta was all praise about John Abraham and his performance in ‘Water’, but we never really thought that she would be the one who would give him an international platform. Right now John is in her two ambitious international projects. One of which is with Amitab Bachchan and another film ‘Luna’ starring Rachel Weisz.



Rachel Weisz is popular Hollywood actress with films like The Mummy, Constantine and Constant Gardner to her credit. She won the 2006 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Constant Gardner. The film is scripted by two time Oscar winner David Ward.



John’s film ‘Exclusion’ with Amitab will be shot later this year. Deepa Mehta announced ‘Luna’ in Cannes. Although Rachel Weisz would be the main protagonist, playing the title character Luna, John will also have a full-fledged role, says Deepa Mehta.

‘Luna’ is based on a real life story of an American activist and environmentalist Julia Butterfly Hill, who protested against the felling of trees in the Red Wood forests in the US by climbing a 180-foot Redwood tree. The lady climbed down only 738 days later- from 1997 to 1999. The tree was named Luna. The protest had a huge impact and a resolution was formed in 1999 to protect all trees in the 3-acre buffer zone of the Redwood forest.

John is also playing an environmentalist in ‘Luna’, but his cultural origin is not specified He is neither an Indian, nor an American in the film. This makes him Bollywood’s first actor to do a Hollywood film without playing an NRI or some snake charmer.

John was not only her choice says Deepa, “The true-life inspiration for the film, Julia Hill, just loved John. Her approval was very important. She thought he looked like Antonio Banderas!”

Shahid and Kareena together in ''Milenge Milenge''.

Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor may not be an item any longer but next Valentine's Day (Feb 14) they're Milenge Milenge.

That's the title of their long-delayed romance directed by Satish Kaushik, which producer Boney Kapoor has decided to release on the day. Somewhat ironical considering Shahid and Kareena have gone their separate ways!

'So be it. Perhaps it was destined that the most romantic film featuring Shahid and Kareena would come only after their relationship is over,' Boney told IANS.

Thanks to the surprise success of Jab We Met, the long-dormant Shahid-Kareena starrer is being brought alive even as rumours surface that the lead pair is not interested in dubbing for the film.

'They haven't given me any indication that they've any problem with dubbing for the film,' says Boney,

Boney has even got the film pass the censor board. 'We've got the scratch-print censored. And all we need now is for Shahid and Kareena to dub.'

Director Satish Kaushik too is gung-ho about the release. 'Milenge Milenge is not at all dated. And why should Shahid and Kareena have any problems dubbing it?'

'In fact Shahid lives in my building. I've asked him about the dubbing and he's fine by it. And Kareena I've known since she came into the industry. I gave her first big hit Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. Unlike that film, Milenge Milenge isn't a southern remake. I've entered a new phase of making films based on original scripts. My next release Tere Sang, about teen pregnancy, is also an original,' says Satish.

Satish was planning to release his film Tere Sang on Valentine's Day. 'But now that 'Milenge Milenge' is being planned for the same date I'll obviously hold back Tere Sang.'

The only person from the team who won't be part of the revived Milenge Milenge is Himesh Reshammiya.

Says Boney, 'Himesh has done the songs. Now we have got late Salil Chowdhary's son Sanjay to do the background score. The promos are also ready. It's a very young and fresh film. We're now looking at a Valentine's release Feb 14.'

Ranbir Kapoor to Make three different looks in his next Upcoming

Ranbir Kapoor has to get into three different looks for his next film for Yashraj films to be directed by Siddharth Anand. In the film, Ranbir has to play three phases of his character’s love life from age 17 to age 28 and finally to age 38.

To get an older look, Ranbir cut his tresses by Aalim to an austere executive styled haircut. Ranbir also plans to sport stubble to look 35. Bipasha Basu is one of the leads opposite Ranbir and the duo actually took a day off for photo-session to check out their on-screen compatibility.

For the younger role of the hero at the age of 17 Ranbir intends to sport long hair and a beatnik cool-dude attitude,with clothes and accessories to match.

Says Ranbir, “I’ve to look compatible with my leading ladies, and yes, this is my first of the three looks for my new film. Working with Siddarth is a very give-and-take thing. We’ve been friends from the time both of us were kids.

The film actually goes on the floors on 24 November, but the test shoots are on.

Deepika Padukone - I'm not engaged to Yuvraj

Bollywood Gossip - First, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and now his teammate Yuvraj Singh. Budding actress Deepika Padukone is quite fed up and says reports about her engagement with Yuvraj Singh are not true at all.

'Please...this is the strangest thing I have heard, so far,' said a visibly disturbed Deepika.

The actress was Thursday evening declared the new brand ambassador of Swiss watch brand Tissot.

Asked how endorsements work for actors, she said: 'It works both ways. I mean celebrities connect the brand to the audience and the label connects them to the viewers, making them more popular.'

Deepika, who is the daughter of former world badminton champion Prakash Padukone, said sports works to de-stress her: 'I am very closely associated with sports. I have played games like badminton, basketball, tennis, throwball and baseball.'

'My favourite sport is swimming however, any type of sport de-stresses me. It takes my mind off work and makes me feel relaxed,' Padukone told IANS.

The newcomer struck fame with her debut film Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

However, she denies being bogged down by any kind of pressure of meeting expectations while picking up projects or in her upcoming movies.

'No there is no such pressure on me! Dad taught me to enjoy my work and till the time I do so I will face the camera merrily.

'I always wanted to do an action flick and I am luckily doing Made In China. Nikhil Advani is directing the film and I will share screen space with Akshay Kumar.'

Apart from Deepika, viewers will soon see Priyanka Chopra doing heavy-duty action in Love Story 2050 and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan swinging the sword in Jodhaa-Akbar.

Commenting on the trend of more heroines taking up action roles she said: 'This itself shows that with the evolution of the Hindi film industry women are getting to do more in films.'

Kim Sharma suffers a sun stroke

Recently, Kim Sharma was in Mauritius shooting for Ganesh Acharya’s ‘Money Hai To Honey Hai’. However, during her shoot on the beach with co-star Aftab Shivdasani she had a major sunstroke and collapsed on the sets. Acharya Immediately called for a doctor and she was given medication.

Relates Kim, “We were constantly shooting in the sun for a few days. The sun was so harsh on the open beach that I finally could not take it anymore and I just collapsed. I was badly sunburnt as well. A doctor was immediately summoned and I was made to rest. Thankfully, the unit took good care of me, especially since we were shooting in a foreign country.”

Nonetheless, after reaching Mumbai the actress performed at the Navy Ball in that condition as she had already committed for it and she felt it would be very unprofessional to back out at the last minute. Good going, Kim!

Sameera Reddy See's Difficulties

Sameera Reddy is extremely miffed with Abbas Mustan, the director of her upcoming film Race. We hear that she was treated badly throughout the shooting of the film. Frustrated with the state of affairs, she went and spoke to producer Ramesh Taurani, who promised to take care of things.

However, there was no noticeable improvement on the sets. Our source from the unit of Race tells us, “The makers of Race were more attentive towards Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif while Sameera was side-lined. No wonder she reacted the way she did.”

So, what kind of preferential treatment was given to Bips and Kat? Our source says, “To begin with, Sameera was promised a longer role. However, later she found out that Bipasha and Katrina had a better role than her while she was sandwiched between the two in some combination scenes. The focus was entirely on Bipasha and Katrina.”

“Worse still, Sameera’s name was not included in the media-meet held at Delhi recently. The press was informed that every actor from Race will interact with the media but Sameera was completely excluded. Sameera, who had worked very hard for the project could not take it any longer,” our source adds.

Sameera remained unavailable for comment. When contacted, producer Ramesh Taurani says, “Sameera was well aware of her role. We did not force her to take it on. It was her choice.”

When asked whether her role was indeed very short, Taurani said, “How does the length of a role matter? Every role has its own value.”

Hrithik Roshan has flown to Singapore for treatment on his knee, which he damaged filming action shots for Krrish, Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar. Hrithik confirmed the news that he had pushed himself too hard for action scenes while filming the above mentioned films and tore a ligament in his right knee.

Hrithik will be in physiotherapy for six weeks and out of action. He will be back in India in mid of January on the eve release of eagerly awaited Jodhaa Akbar.

New Delhi: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked the ramp in the Capital to endorse the launch of a new bridal collection of luxury watches.

The most famous daughter-in-law of the Indian film industry finally made her first appearance on the ramp after her grand wedding amidst clicking shutterbugs and a cheering Delhi crowd.

However, the lady could not resist talking about her own marriage and honeymoon.

Aishwarya says that she is a happy girl after her wedding. “I feel so blessed. I wish we had more time off. Abhishek and me keep talking about our honeymoon,” she said.


Apart from the marital bliss, what’s also keeping Aishwarya excited is her big Hollywood project, the Pink Panther sequel with Steve Martin which she just finished shooting for.

Amrita Don't Like Kissing Ranbir Kapoor

Sometime back, Amrita Rao was being considered for a pivotal role in Yashraj’s new film, to be directed by Siddharth Raj Anand that starred Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. But things didn't seem to materialise between the petite actress and the director. The reason, as cited in the media, was Amrita’s refusal to indulge in a passionate kiss with Ranbir [on screen, of course]. As a result, Amrita decided to make an exit from the film.

Amrita had been maintaining a silence about the entire episode, but she decided to clear the air once in for all. “I opted out because I had reservations about certain things. Kissing was never an issue. I really don’t understand how this issue [kiss] cropped up in the first place, when the fact is that the issue was something else altogether,” Amrita divulges.

So how did the Chopras take to Amrita’s refusal? “Adi [Aditya Chopra] understood my point of view. He wasn’t upset, nor did he throw a fit. He assured me that we’d work again, in the future,”

Pakistani bride for John Abraham

Pakistan’s famous cross-dressing TV host Begum Nawazish Ali has offered to look for a suitable Pakistani bride for Bollywood actor John Abraham , who has reportedly split with long-time girlfriend and actress Bipasha Basu .

“Why did John and Bipasha split is Begum the culprit?” ran the previews on Aaj TV, which airs the “Late Night Begum Nawazish Ali Show” every Saturday.

Begum Nawazish aka Ali Saleem flew to Mumbai to meet John whose Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal is the first film to be simultaneously released in India and Pakistan — has been a smash hit across the border.

There was no escape for John from the Begum’s flirtatious ways in the hour-long show.

Dressed in a heavily embellished mauve sari, the Begum kept referring to Bipasha as John’s ‘physiotherapist’, but the actor smiled through it all very sportingly.

When John who was asked about his plans to marry, said ‘not anytime soon’ the Begum offered to look for a suitable Pakistani girl.

Speaking about ‘Goal’, John, who was christened Farhan by his mother who is of Iranian descent, said the film is about “unity”. The movie is based on the exploits of expatriates from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan who come together to form a football team in London.

“People are tired of fighting, of wars. This is a film, which unites Indians, Bangladeshis, Pakistanis. It shows the confluence of cultures.

“When we were shooting in Southall (in London) we actually got abused. So whatever is shown in the film about racism is actually true.”

Though he has never been to Pakistan, John said he plans to be there soon to promote the film. “It was a last minute decision to release the film in Pakistan. So I could not plan a trip there,” he disclosed.

The brawny actor, who has many Pakistani friends including Faisal Kapadia and Bilal Maqsood of the band Strings, said, “Indian and Pakistani people do not have a problem with each other. The problem is politics just like the politics in Bollywood which I do not understand.”

Prodded by the Begum, John said he did not believe in the many Bollywood camps. “Directors have favourite actors. But no camps for me. I have refused big banners who told me they would blot me out.”

When he was told of the many fans he had in Pakistan, John, who was last week voted the third sexiest Asian, said, “I don’t like the word fans. I prefer to say audience, brothers. They respect my work, so I should also treat them with respect.

“Till 2003, I had no money. I lived a very middle- class life. I have the money now. But in my head I am still very middle-class,” John said.

What Akshay is Cooking

Akshay Kumar may be away in Australia shooting for Vipul Shah"s Singh Is Kinng but he"s been busy off the sets.

Says a source close to Akshay, “Akki and some of the crew of Singh Is Kinng have been staying in self-contained luxury villas along the Gold Coast.

The villas are very expensive but since Akshay and the cast and crew are in Australia for a month and a half it"s more comfortable than staying in a hotel."

Adds the source, “The kitchens are high-tech and are fully equipped. Akshay is very conscious about his diet and every evening, you"ll find him cooking salads, soups and sandwiches. The production unit gets the necessary groceries delivered to him."

The source adds, “Parathas are Akki"s favourite but now he"s stopped eating them. He can cook everything from pasta and fettucini to Thai dishes. Akki has always loved cooking. When Twinkle and Aarav join him, he cooks for them too. Akshay"s favourite is sushi, he and Twinkle often indulge themselves at Wasabi."

Akshay laughs when contacted, “Yes. I love cooking. It"s a great stress-buster but more than food now people are busy cooking up controversies about me. Earlier, people said that I edited my films.

Today, they say I am editing my promos. I am in Australia and the director of Welcome, Anees Bazmee, is shooting with me here. So maybe it"s my double who is editing promos back in Mumbai."

Is he bidding adieu to comedy? Says Akshay, “No. Comedy comes as naturally to me as action! Next year, I have a variety of films. I am getting back to action with Chandni Chowk To China and Tashan. But for now I want everyone to Welcome the New Year with a bang!" says Akshay.

Saif - Now It's Turn For Deepika Padukone

Now it’s Saif’s turn to become become a producer and like his good friend SRK, chhote nawab is also looking forward to cast Deepika ‘Shanti’ Padukone in a lead role opposite him.
The actor has already finalized a project titled ‘Agent Vinod’, to be directed by Sriram Raghavan next year. In all likelihood, the film will star Saif’s latest flame Kareena Kapoor.
But now, rumours have it that Saif is eager to start another film before ‘Agent Vinod’. The actor has reportedly been impressed by director Imtiaz Ali ’s work in Jab We Met and has been discussing several scripts with him.

And Deepika Padukone, who made her dream debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om, is under consideration for the lead role in the film.

Saif says the cast of the film will be announced once the script is ready.

Big B Aamir Khan war of words is heating up everyday. Aamir in a recent media interview panned director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his handling of the film Black terming it ‘insensitive and manipulative.’ He also termed the performances of the actors ‘over the top’.

The criticism did not go down well with Amitabh Bachchan. In an interview with a tabloid he was asked what he thought about Aamir’s ‘over the top’ remark.

“I cannot comment whether my performance was towering or not, but Aamir may be right on the other maybe the performances did go ‘over the top’ of his head!” Amitabh responded.

In his response to Bachchan’s outburst, Aamir Khan posted a blog entry that was calm and matter of fact.

“I have the highest regard for Mr Bachchan and I am very big fan of his work. Probably one of the biggest. I believe that he along with Mr Dilip Kumar are among my two favourite actors of Indian Cimema.

I have no hesitation in saying that I don”t even feature on the same platform as an actor. He is also in my opinion THE biggest star that Indian Cinema has ever seen.”

Putting his comments on Black in perspective Aamir continues,

“My big exception towards Black is the fact that a child with severe difficulties is shown being ill treated instead of being treated with love, care and understanding. I simply cannot come to terms with that no matter what the writer and director say in defence.”
